Come along and share your ideas to get Fairtrade noticed in the Holme Valley! Meetings last around an hour and give opportunity for people to share their Fairtrade news and forthcoming events, to plan future events, and catch up on news from Fairtrade Yorkshire and the Fairtrade Foundation. Holmfirth Food and Drink Festival runs from 23rd – 24th September 2017 and as part of the festival team fairandfunky are managing the ‘fairandfunky Fairtrade family food zone’ in Holmfirth Market on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th.
The ‘fairandfunky Fairtrade family food zone’ is an exciting, interesting and unique marketplace of local and Fairtrade/ethical stallholders – will you be there? Holmfirth Market will be filled with stallholders from the Yorkshire Region (the closer to Holmfirth, the better!) selling Fairtrade, recycled, organic or locally produced goods – food AND gifts.

Cotton On To Fairtrade Coffee Morning – Honley High School – Tuesday 3rd October, 9am to 11am
The Fairtrade Cotton on to Fairtrade Coffee Morning at Honley High School will welcome Fairtrade cotton producer Viswaraj Maghoo to share his story and describe his life-changing experiences from working in a sweatshop to being employed by a Fairtrade-licensed Factory.
More details will follow – but for now – please put the date in your diary and be at this special celebration event of all things Fairtrade in the Holme Valley – with informal networking over tea, coffee and cake!
fairandfunky Sustainable Schools Conference for Primary Schools – Al-Hikmah Centre (IMWS), Batley – Friday 6th October 2017
The fairandfunky Sustainable Schools Conference brings together Primary Schools to celebrate World Environment Day. The conference will ignite enthusiasm and interest in both pupils and teachers for local and global sustainability.
The conference will link themes of citizenship, food, biodiversity and waste from the Eco-Schools programme, Food For Life and Fairtrade Schools Award, providing evidence for each of these award schemes. All students will create individual recycled artworks to take home, along with a pack of wildflower seeds and other eco-goodies. The event will close with a Q&A and certificate presentations from Tracy Brabin MP. Leading workshop providers – fairandfunky, Grow To School, Pockets Theatre and LoveBread – will facilitate interactive sessions involving drama, recycling, local food and muddy fingers – providing plenty of food for thought!
The conference costs £120 for each school to bring 8 students and 2 teacher delegates. Please email email@example.com for a booking form and to reserve your school a place.

Swap Shop Sew - Holmfirth Civic Hall - Saturday 21st October, 1pm to 4pm
Join fairandfunky and Upcycle Fashion for 'Swap Shop Sew' an exclusive event all about sustainable fashion, where you can bring old clothes and SWAP them for new, SHOP for ethical, Fairtrade, organic and handmade textiles from local businesses, and SEW your own upcycled products.
1pm to 2.30pm - Clothes Drop Off
3pm to 4pm - Swap old clothes for new!
Plus, enter the upcycle competition: transform an unwated textile item into a new fashion item or artwork! To enter the competition, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Entries will be displayed at the 'Swap Shop Sew' exhibition, and judged by a guest pannel.
Mask-Making SCRAPtastic with fairandfunky - Carlile Institute, Meltham - Monday 23rd October, 9.30am to 11am

Join fairandfunky for a Halloween SCRAPtastic, making 'Halloween Plant Pot Heads' at Totties Garden Centre and The Olive Tree Cafe!
Workshop cost is £3.50 per child, payable on the day. Suitable for children aged 3 - 12 years. Parents are expected to stay with their children as they craft.
Whilst the children craft you can enjoy a coffee and a piece of cake and enjoy the fantastic views over the Holme Valley. Great fun for all the family.

Fairtrade and Ethical Cristmas Market - Huddersfield Mission - Saturday 18th November, 11am to 4pm
fairandfunky will be hosting a Fairtrade and Ethical Christmas Fair at Huddersfield Mission on 18th November 2017!
The Mission will be filled with over 20 stalls of local businesses - showcasing upcycled, handmade, Fairtrade and ethical products.

Music from local choirs and music groups will keep the crowds entertained! And a free craft workshop will keep little ones busy too.
